You might have come across the name Marshmallow, lollipop, kitkat and others in terms of Android operating system. Google’s Android first delicacy launched with the name cupcake which is version 1.5. This Android version comes with the features like direct upload of videos to you tube and Picasa, enables third part keyboard and widgets on Android OS.
Later the Android version comes with another delicacy named Donut which is next to Android 1.5 and it is Android 1.6 version. As the new version is launched it must came with some advanced features. And these features include advanced photo and video quality, certain errors of OS came sorted with this new version, for first time text to speech is enabled, and it also refined search integration.
Another important feature it brought with is larger screen size support and turn by turn navigation feature. Turn by turn is a GPS navigation feature, where a voice directs you towards your destination which turns to take right or left, it provide you with street name and the time duration required reaching the destination. After 1.6 Google launched the new version as Android 2.0 and 2.1 both together were names Éclair another mouth watering delicacy. The version came with different feature in different month firstly in October 2009, 2.0 is launched afterwards it come with refined feature in December 2009 and again in 2010, 2.1 is released so on a whole it is called as Éclair. It came up with Bluetooth 2.1 support, flash and zoom on camera is another added feature. This version also provides multi-touch support and live wallpapers, and more.
Android 2.3, 2.4 named as Gingerbread
It comes with some changes in technical features where a smartphone can enables the functions of other sensors like barometers, gravimeters, and others. Google Android version 3.0 come in action on smartphone and it is called Honeycomb. The honeycomb version was made to show perfect compatibility with tablets. However, in succession version 3.1 and 3.2 come one after another. It is especially made to support larger screen sizes gadgets.

After honeycomb Android version 4.0 came in action and added may new features in the smartphone category. It enhanced smartphone features not only in terms of functionality but also enhances its design. It came up with another advanced feature of default font which get launched in October 2011.
After version 4.0 whichever version came into action were taken under Google Play app. All versions are now available in google play for download and upgrades.
With Jelly bean speech to text feature enabled on smartphone without any data usage or internet connection. It also added advanced feature of Google Assistant with the name ‘Google Now’. It added a new technology to the smartphone and made the mobile phone more interactive.
On September 3, 2013 Google announced Android version 4.4 codenamed Kitkat. This version took over Google Now feature and replaces it with an advanced feature known as ‘Ok Google’. Ok Google recognizes the verbal speech even if there is no touch initiated to the smartphone. It enabled the speech recognition and eliminates the touch feature to open up artificial intelligence assistant. Kitkat also came up with introduction of various new emoji on keyboards.
It is named after Android version 5.0. Lollipop widens Android platform to make it compatible with various other devices. Now, Android lollipop is compatible with smart watches, telephones along with the smartphones. Android 5.0 version came with extended battery lifetime. Lollipop also prevents the damages caused to the smartphone caused due to low battery. With the extended runtime these devices can run for long so that when you are outside your will be available for you for long run without charging need.
Marchow, Android version 6 brought sensor recognition feature to smartphones for the first time. However, it is applicable over only some devices. It also included opt-in App permission, minimise the battery usage during idle position, and USB C support. With the arrival of Marshmallow, now user can use microSD Card to enhance the internal storage space. This version came in middle of 2016 year.
On June 30, 2016 Android 7.0 version came in action and put it under the code name Nougat. Many notable features included in this new version of Android. Multiple apps can be displayed on slit screen views at once. It included notification feature which make it easier for user to get an immediate view of the messages received. The OS now runs on open JDK platform which come under JAVA based environment. Other important features included are Unicode 7.0 emoji support and vulkan graphics 3D rendering API.
Now comes the Oreo where not major changes takes place but it leads to provides the more updated and improved version of Android. It updated Unicode 9.0 emoji support to Unicode 10 emoji support. It also improved the multiple screen display and also enhanced the notification framework. Oreo again get updates and come with another version which is Android 8.1 named as ‘Oreo Go Edition’ the changes made here are specifically for low devices to support all advanced features to support several internal functions.
Android P is the latest Android version. It came in June 2018. This is the Android 9.0 version. It came with smarter navigation feature. It provides ‘single home button’ on display, from where the user can go to any of the application instead of going through those ‘home’, ‘back’ and ‘overview’ button. Another feature is a power saving feature include adaptive battery which optimises the battery utilisation as per the work. The brightness of mobile phone can be adjusted depending on the application running at the time.
